The Cornish Cyder Farm were very privileged to be asked to co-sponsor the "2005 Cornwall Tourism Awards".

We used this opportunity to promote our Cornish Rattler, our first draught cyder at 6% and our Cornish Apple Brandy, both of which were available to sample on the night. Our products were also incorporated into the five course menu which was designed to showcase the very best in Cornish produce.

The top photograph shows Lucy Clifford (left), our university student placement and Carrie Landeryou with the full range of our Cornish Cyder Farm products.

The event was held at St Mellion Golf and Country Club on Thursday 17th November. It was a black tie event and was attended by over 300 guests and award winners. All of the products featured are available to sample and buy in our farm shop.

APRIL 2005 - EARL AND COUNTESS OF WESSEX ROYAL VISIT TO CYDER FARM

As part of their visit to Cornish tourist attractions the Earl and Countess of Wessex visited The Cornish Cyder Farm and were taken on a tour of the distillery and museum by the Healey family. As well as meeting our infamous Apple Man, the Royal couple were presented with a bottle of our virgin run Cornish Apple Brandy before taking time to talk to all of our members of staff. The Earl and Countess then went on to visit other Cornish attractions such as 'Dairyland' and 'Lusty Glaze Outdoor Education Centre'.

MARCH 2005 - THE CORNISH CYDER FARM SCRUMPY WINS SECOND IN INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION

The Cornish Cyder Farm has won second place in the International Cider and Perry Competition in Hereford. The success follows winning Supreme Champion in 2001.

The Cyder Farm entered their famous "Legless but Smiling" Cornish Medium Sweet Scrumpy into the Competition for 2005 and is delighted that the quality of the Scrumpy product is now recognised.

"Scrumpy has traditionally been seen as quite a rough and ready product that is cheap and cheerful. We make the effort to make our Scrumpy to the same high standards of our other products and this is obviously been recognised by the judges of the competition." says David Healey, Managing Director and Owner of The Cornish Cyder Farm.

  • Following the release of Cornwall's first apple brandy in over 300 years last august we have been overwhelmed and immensely proud of all the positive feedback we have received. Every bottle of this first barrel has now been sold. The second barrel of this virgin run has now been released as a five year old vintage brandy and is currently retailing at £85.00. Because of the exclusivity of this product it is only available from our Farm shop here at Penhallow.

  • We are delighted and proud to say that a dry cider we entered in the International Cider & Perry Competition 2001 made from a single variety of our own apples, not only won the best in class (Dry Cider) but was also deemed the best overall and was pronounced supreme champion. We beat competition from around the world including America and Australia and also the "home" of cider production in the UK - Hereford. This particular cider is in very limited supply but has now been bottled and is available exclusively at the farm. SORRY THE 2001 BATCH IS NOW ALL SOLD BUT WE ARE MAKING MORE TO THE SAME RECIPE.
